Belfast Resilience Strategy
The Belfast Resilience Strategy - the city’s first Climate Plan - was formally launched on 15th December 2020. Produced by the Belfast Resilience and Sustainability Board in collaboration with key partners, it has set an ambitious target for the city.
Using a wide range of data and research and, following a two year programme of engagement across the city, we identified a number of shocks and stresses which could make Belfast more vulnerable and which could threaten our economic, social or environmental future. As a result the strategy has three areas of focus or multiple problem solvers - actions that solve several risks at once:
We have also agreed 30 'foundational programmes' - decade-long interventions which will have a positive impact, at scale, across the city to help achieve our Resilience Goal.
We want people to continue to be involved and engaged in resilience and sustainability. So, as we roll out these programmes and as we review the strategy, we will create opportunities where we can work together to improve life in the city.
