Belfast City Youth Council is made up of 25 young people from communities across Belfast.
We're all are aged between 13-18 (21 if you are disabled or have just left care).
We meet twice a month to agree and work on issues affecting young people and attend joint workshops with elected members three times a year.
Our first meeting was held in January 2024. We're normally part of the youth council for two years, then a new group of young people are elected to represent the views of young people in Belfast.
Previous youth councils have worked on a number of successful campaigns, many of which are still carried on today. Some of these campaigns have included research on:
Poverty
Mental Health
Relationship and sexuality education
Diversity
