Your ideas for naming the bridge

Thank you to everyone who has submitted ideas so far.  The response has been overwhelming.  All your ideas and comments will go to a panel to be assessed using criteria set out in the council's naming policy.   After this assessment we will issue a shortlist of  potential names for the bridge and put this out for further consultation. 

We would like you to come up with a name for the new bridge.

This will be a three stage process: at present you have the opportunity to submit your ideas for the name of the bridge. Following this, a panel of judges will meet to consider the submissions and shortlist a number of potential names against the criteria in the Council’s naming policy. Assessment criteria include if the name is after a person, that a person must have made a “significant contribution” to the life of the area / City / or the name should provide a sense of place, reflecting the geographic location, community or neighbourhood where the bridge is located.

You will have then the opportunity to vote on the shortlisted options. The final bridge name will be determined by the majority vote.
