Belfast is a city that comes alive through its events – from music, arts and food festivals to neighbourhood celebrations and international showcases. These moments bring people together, tell our stories, and shape how Belfast is experienced by residents and visitors alike.
Belfast City Council is working with Festivals and Events International (FEI) to develop a new Belfast Events Action Plan: a five-year framework to strengthen the city’s events, support local talent, and attract more visitors in a sustainable and creative way.
We want to hear what you think:
Which events matter most to you?
What kinds of experiences would you like to see more of?
How can events better reflect and connect our communities?
When we talk about ‘events’, we mean the full spectrum of Belfast’s creative and civic life from large-scale festivals, sports events and concerts to local celebrations, exhibitions, performances, and cultural gatherings that bring people together. Some of these will be organised by the council and others independently by promoters, community groups, cultural organisations and sporting associations. Some of the examples of Belfast City Council's festivals and events include: Christmas lights switch on, St. Patrick's day celebrations, Lord Mayor's event, Maritime festival, Spring fair or Autumn fair, summer music festivals, to name a few.
Your views will help shape the future direction of events and festivals in Belfast - ensuring they remain vibrant, inclusive and distinctive to our city.
The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete and is open to everyone who lives in, works in, or visits Belfast.
