Consultation has concluded

In May 2012, Belfast became the first council in Northern Ireland to commit to becoming an Age Friendly City. Since then, we have supported the Healthy Ageing Strategic Partnership and our community planning partners to develop and deliver two Age Friendly Belfast Plans. We are now developing our third plan.

During February - June 2022, we:

  1. Consulted Greater Belfast Seniors Forum on key issues and best ways to consult with older people during the pandemic
  2. Held consultation events and partnership workshops/meetings with:
  • 4 local older people’s forums
  • 4 Dementia Friendly Neighbourhood Groups
  • a range of older people and organisations working with older people through a workshop in Belfast City Hall
  • a multiagency online event to develop key actions
  • a postcard survey with individual older people

Based on what we heard and using other evidence and research, we brought a draft of the Age Friendly Belfast Plan 2022-2026 to the Healthy Ageing Strategic Partnership, the Greater Belfast Seniors Forum and the council's All-Party Reference Group on Older People. We now want to hear from you.
