Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Temporary Caravan/Campervan/Motorhome Site Planning Approval (Pre-application Community Consultation)
Belfast will host Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the world’s largest celebration of Irish music and culture, from Sunday 2 August to Sunday 9 August 2026. Qualifying competitors from across the globe will showcase the very best of traditional music, song, dance and language in the All-Ireland competitions. The Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann promises to be a momentous occasion for Belfast. With a minimum of 800,000 visitors expected, it is set to be the biggest cultural event ever held in the city.
In preparation for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026, and to help accommodate the increased number of visitors, Belfast City Council is seeking planning approval for a temporary caravan, campervan and motorhome site in the Titanic Quarter area of Belfast. A proposal of this scale, even on a temporary basis, requires formal planning approval. As part of this process, we are carrying out community engagement to understand local support or concerns. This is a legal requirement for all major planning applications. The site may also be used in 2027, subject to confirmation that Belfast will host the Fleadh in 2027.
Your feedback will help shape the final planning submission and the types of facilities that may be provided on the site. Potential facilities include communal recreational areas, toilets, showers, waste‑disposal points, and small outlets such as a tuck shop and tea/coffee/drinks area. The site will also require a site office, lighting, storage areas and other temporary structures and works to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for visitors.
You can share your views by completing our short survey or by attending our public consultation event on Tuesday 20 January, from 3pm to 7pm, at Titanic Hotel Belfast, Queens Road, BT3 9DT.
This consultation closes on Wednesday 18 February 2026, at 5pm.
