Closed 16 Oct 2016

Opened 12 Sep 2016

We’re investing £105 million over the next ten years to improve our leisure centres, programmes and services. This is a unique opportunity to improve the health and wellbeing of our city, by delivering a quality service that meets the needs of our communities.

As part of the Leisure Transformation Programme we're investing £25 million for a new state-of-the-art leisure facility to replace the existing Andersonstown Leisure Centre.

Following community consultation and advice from a range of industry experts, we have taken the decision that the new centre will focus largely on water based family fun.

In addition to extensive family focused wet provision, the new facility will also offer a range of dry facilities such as a state-of-the-art fitness suite, sports hall and studios.

The agreed facilities are:

  • large family fun focused area of leisure water
  • 25m six lane pool with 50 spectator seats
  • learner pool
  • confidence water for small children and toddlers
  • 140 station fitness suite
  • exercise studios
  • spin studio
  • sports hall
  • café
  • range of outdoor provision such as five-a-side pitches and BMX park

Why We Are Consulting

Based on the agreed facilities our professional design team have developed initial designs for the new facility and we are inviting people, groups and organisations to view our plans and provide feedback on this exciting new development.
