We are reviewing our current physical activity and sports development provision and will be developing a strategy to make it easier for people to be physically active and take part in sports. Although we are starting from a strong foundation, we want to nurture and enhance everyone's opportunity to be active or get involved in sports. Being physical activity and participating in sport helps improve people's health and mental wellbeing. Through this new strategy, we want to ensure that we provide the best facilities and programmes that will help people be healthier and feel better. However, for our strategy to work, we need to understand and respond to the needs of our residents.
During October and November 2022, we will be carrying out initial consultation with residents, sports clubs and other stakeholders across the city. This is your opportunity to tell us what is important to you about physical activity and what you think about the existing provision in Belfast. We want to know your views about what needs to happen in the future and what programmes, events, services and facilities you'd like to see offered.
We have appointed Strategic Leisure Limited (SLL) to help us develop the strategy. Together we'll use your feedback to prepare a draft strategy that we will share with you early next year. You'll have another opportunity then to shape and influence the final strategy. If you'd like to be kept up do date about the strategy and future engagements, please use the "Stay Informed" link to the right to join our mailing list.
Please note: You do not have to sign in or register on our Your Say Belfast platform to take part. If you are a registered user, you must sign out of Your Say Belfast account so that your response is anonymous. Please be aware, that if you are signed into Your Say Belfast when you complete one of our surveys, then your email and site registration details can be linked to this survey.
