Operational arrangements and other access point

We are consulting upon two pedestrian gates in this section that are connected directly onto the Greenway’s main lit spine at Forthriver Crescent and Forthriver Road and each lead towards the playpark.

Operational arrangements for other access points that are not part of the current consultation include dawn-to-dusk access into site at Glencairn Park carpark through vehicle barrier and dawn-to-dusk access through pedestrian gate into the site at Forthriver Crescent adjacent to Fernhill House (not connected to the main spine). Vehicle access on Sommerdale Park into Clarendon Playing Fields is controlled via a key holding agreement with site management.

We are consulting upon two pedestrian gates in this section that are connected directly onto the Greenway’s main lit spine these include main entrances at the top of the section at West Circular Road and bottom of the section at the Innovation Factory roundabout towards Springfield Road.

Operational arrangements for a further pedestrian gate at Paisley Park which is linked to the main spine via a secondary lit path is not included in this consultation.  This gate opens at dawn and closes in the evenings via a key-holding agreement with Paisley Park site management. 

Springfield Park

We are consulting upon seven pedestrian gates and one vehicular gate accessing a carpark within the Springfield Park site that are connected directly onto the greenway’s main lit spine which loops around the interior of the park.  Six of these Park accesses lead from Springfield Road, with one leading from Springdale Gardens and one leading from Clovelly Street.

Operational arrangements for other access points that are not part of the current consultation include dawn-to-dusk site access through a pedestrian gate located between no. 446 & 448 Springfield Road; and a pedestrian gate adjacent to 434 Springfield Road.

Falls Park

We are consulting upon three gates in Falls Park site that connect onto the main lit spine of the Greenway. Two of these are pedestrian (Whiterock Leisure Centre and Falls Road) with one vehicular entrance at Falls Road allowing carpark access.

Operational arrangements for other access points that are not part of the current consultation include continued dawn-to-dusk opening of all pedestrian gates within the park  (Ardmonagh Gardens, Norfolk Road, Norfolk Parade and Falls Road adjacent to Cemetery), and the vehicular access at Whiterock Leisure Centre remains open in line with use of the adjacent pitches.

We are consulting upon all gates in the Bog Meadows section of the Greenway as all three are on the main lit spine. Towards the Falls Road these include a vehicular gate at the Ulster Wildlife Office allowing access to a carpark, a pedestrian gate adjacent to St Galls pitches (Naomh Gall CLG); as well as a pedestrian gate at the Broadway/Donegal Road end of the section.
