Consultation has concluded

The success of Belfast’s city centre is vital to the future of the city as a whole and indeed the wider region, given its capital city status and role as an economic, cultural and investment hub. In 2021, Belfast City Council developed a Clean, Green, Inclusive and Safe (CGIS) City Centre action plan responding to the findings of a public consultation. The resulting action plan seeks to provide clarity on the roles and responsibilities of each partner to deliver the success we all aspire to. As the plan moves to implementation we are keen to re-engage the public to obtain an updated baseline position. We invite you to tell us how we can transform our city centre for the better and how to create:

  • A physically and environmentally clean city centre;
  • An environmentally sustainable, carbon neutral city centre with green spaces;
  • A welcoming, open, accessible and shared city centre; and
  • A safe and compassionate city centre with low instances of homelessness, crime and antisocial behaviour

We would love to hear your current views on the city centre and how we can make it cleaner, greener, more inclusive and a safer place for all. Tell us what is working well and your ideas and priorities to help enhance the City Centre. The below survey should take 10 minutes to complete.

This survey is open to everyone - all Belfast residents, visitors, workers, business community, statutory organisations, and community/voluntary sector organisations but is focussed on the city centre. Belfast City Centre is identified in the map below.

We have defined Belfast city centre as the area bounded by the Westlink and stretching to the Titanic Quarter to the north, along the river Lagan to the south and east and bounded by the railway track to the south.
