Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) on the draft Belfast Agenda

Closed 20 Apr 2017

Opened 15 Dec 2016

Overview

In preparing the draft Belfast Agenda, Belfast's first community plan, we have considered the potential for significant environmental effects arising from the plan's long term outcomes and ambitions, 4 year priorities, stretch goals and related workstreams.

This assessment is in the form of a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), in recognition of the requirements of EC Directive 2001/42/EC and the 'Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004', which aim to place environmental protection and sustainable development at the centre of plan and programme preparation.

The assessment considers a range of environmental topics in the context of the draft Belfast Agenda proposals, assesses (at a high level) the potential for significant environmental effects, and considers possible alternatives and mitigations.

You can download a copy of the Strategic Environmental Assessment report and relevant appendices, as well as the draft Belfast Agenda document by clicking on the relevant document links at the bottom of this page.

We have developed an online survey for you to give your views on the assessment. The survey questions include relevant sections from the SEA report to make it easier to understand and complete. Simply click on the headings with the arrows to see more information.

We are also seeking views on two related documents - the draft Belfast Agenda (Community Plan) and the Equality Impact Assessment . To respond to these consultations please click on the relevant link at the bottom of this page.
