Over the past year, we’ve been busy working with our partners on a range of improvements to enhance Cave Hill Country Park, making it safer, more accessible and creating more ecologically diverse parkland. This includes working with Cavehill Mountain Bike Club (CMC) to agree and test a new pilot approach for ‘The Middle’ trail within the County Park with the support of Outdoor Recreation NI.
Now that works to the trail, including the erection of new safety signage is complete, ‘The Middle’ has formally opened for public use. The pilot will help us try out new arrangements for the maintenance, management and inspection of the mountain bike trail over the next two years.
Where will 'The Middle' trail be located?
The location of 'The Middle' mountain bike trail is shown in the map below (the purple line on the key). It will be marked by signs to ensure the safety of all users of the country park.
Consultation
Belfast City Council are keen to hear views on what improvements users would like to see in Cave Hill Country Park in the future - and you could help us by completing the survey below. Note: Now that 'The Middle' has opened questions within the below survey have been expanded to get mountain bikers views on 'The Middle' trail)
