colourful poster produced by Libraries NI: Book bingo - read or listen to a book that matches each to get a full house.

Belfast is a UNESCO Learning City and we're inviting you to take part in a fun Book Bingo Challenge as part of our collaboration with the National Year of Reading 2026 and Libraries NI.

How it Works

Using the Book Bingo card shown choose any squares that spark your interest and start reading (or listening)! You can also pick up a physical book bingo card from reception at City Hall.

There's no pressure to complete the whole card, every book counts (including audiobooks).

Share what you have read

Once you have finished a book, or if you have a good idea for a book under a particular prompt, we'd love you to share your recommendation with others through our ideas poll. This is a great way to

  • Discover what others are reading
  • Build a Belfast 'recommended reads' list
  • Inspire someone else's next book choice
  • Celebrate reading and lifelong learning across our city

How the voting tool works

The poll allows individuals to both submit recommendations and vote on others:

  • Add the title and author of a book you'd recommend
  • Include a brief note on why you would recommend it (or the prompt it aligns with)
  • Browse suggestions from others
  • Return any time to see new recommendations

Why take part

Reading for pleasure is linked to improving wellbeing, creativity, focus and lifelong learning and this challenge is a simple way to make space for reading in our busy lives. Whether you prefer novels, memoirs, audiobooks, poetry or non-fiction, there's something on the card to inspire everyone.
