Earlier this year, we invited individuals and groups to submit creative ideas for funding via our "Bank of Ideas". The Bank of Ideas is a participatory budgeting (PB) process in which residents and communities come up with new ideas for supporting creativity in the city. Those ideas are then put to a public vote, with the people of Belfast deciding which projects get funded.
This was the second year of our Bank of Ideas. You can read more about PB and Bank of Ideas by clicking on the 'read more' links on this page.
On Sunday 29 June, we held a Voting Day in City Hall, so that residents could learn more about the creative ideas and vote for the ones they'd like to see happen. Voting was separated into five areas - north, south, east, west and city centre or citywide. People had to vote for 10 projects in each of their chosen area or areas. This makes it a fairer process for all involved.
Over 1,000 people voted in our Bank of Ideas 2025.
The day itself was a hive of creativity! There was lots of buzz and chat, where new connections and ideas blossomed, making it a positive and successful event for everyone involved regardless of whether they secured funding or not.
You can find out which ideas got funded and will be happening in your area by clicking on the links below:
We'd like to give a big shout out to everyone who submitted a creative idea and set up their voting day "stall" and to all who came along on the day to take part and vote.
